Alcúdia
Somebody
could say that Alcudia is a particular and privileged town, and
it certainly is. In its landscape, stretched out to 10 km of coast
with a dozen of beaches, the mountain and the sea exist side by
side in harmony. All of that, together with an exceptional location
(between to bays), turn Alcudia into a town enjoying the privilege
of a balcony on the Mediterranean Sea. The sea is an important
and charming element for the people from Alcudia, as it shows
the following song:
"Alcúdia estan vigilant
es peix qui l'agafarà
són diligents a la mar
i malfeiners en el camp."
“They are watching over Alcudia.
Who’s going to fish the fish?
They are diligent at the sea
but bad workers in the country.”
Beside a variegated landscape (take the Natural Park of S’Albufera
–a first-rate bird reserve–as an example), Alcudia
offers to its visitors the rests of one of the most outstanding
civilizations set up in the island: the Roman ruins,
being Pollentia city and the Walls surrounding the town the most
important example. At the present, Alcudia is a well-known tourist
destination characterized by a modern and comfortable hotel industry
able to welcome all those tourists that year by year have visited
the town since the 30’.
Puerto de Alcudia is one of the most important trade ports in
the Balearic Islands, and it is also a sports and a yacht club
with room enough to receive boats coming from every part of the
world.
